According to many, Pavel Chesnokov is the Father of modern Russian Choral Music. He composed over 500 works and this is one of his most popular ones.

The work speaks of the birth of Christ, "Salvation is Created". Here, Chesnokov makes extensive use of the choir's range going from B2, the second lowest B natural on the piano, up to the A natural four octaves higher. This range is quite a feat for most mixed choirs, and there are few all male choirs in the world who could perform this repertoire.
